basket

Some of you have asked how to make the basket that I posted here. I don't have a template, because you can make it any size.

The basic concept for the basket will work for any size.
For the size I made, you need:
1 6"x8" piece of card stock (basket)
1 1"x8" piece of card stock (handle)
Stamp any design on both pieces of card stock. (I used jumbo wheels.)
On the 6"x8" piece, score the length at 2.5" and 6.5".
Score the width at 2" and 4". Cut in from the ends on these score lines up to the crossing score lines. (You will have 2 cuts on each end.)
Fold on all scores. Overlap the 3 flaps on each end to the angle you want and glue.
Attach handle with staples, brads or eyelets.
Decorate as desired.
***Note: Your score lines will look sorta like tic tac toe lines.
If you click on the picture on my blog, it will get bigger so you can see more details. (Ignore the extra score line - that was an oops.) But the larger pic will help you see about how much the ends overlap.
I hope my instructions are clear. It really is very easy.

a comfort quilt

Hello. Sorry about the lack of posts. I picked up one of those stuffy head colds and just haven't been doing a whole lot of anything. But since I still have to create for my classes, I pulled out a little bit of energy to make something. Yesterday's inspiration challenge helped in the process. I chose the dress in the middle picture.

I've been wanting to make one of these quilt cards using the top note die that I've seen on several blogs, so I pulled out some really old designer paper from one of the big stacks and punched 1-3/8" squares. I glued them to a piece of white card stock and then put it through my cuttlebug with the top note die.

Of course I had to add some quilting stitches. And to dress it up, I stamped the flower from my free SAB set Polka Dot Punches twice on the same dp and punched them out with the 5 petal flower punch. I added a brad to the center and popped it up.

The sentiment is from Close As a Memory, stamped on white and then I put just the ends into the curly label punch to get a similar shape as the top note. The edges are sponged with teal.

Thanks for stopping by.

Is it spring yet?

Hello there. Today is mostly sunny, but cold. It was only about 10 degrees this morning. The snow in our yard is all gone, but then it's still March. But, I needed a spring card for a class this week and the ways to use it challenge on SCS was going green, so I have a bright green spring card for you.

The image is from a brand new set available now from the SU occasions mini catalog called Wagon Full of Fun. This is a style that I typically don't buy, bordering on the cute side, but somehow it ended up on my order. Maybe it was those spring images calling to me.

I stamped the image in black stazon on watercolor paper and colored it with markers and aqua painter. The bright colors against the black accents really make this card pop.

What's in it?
stamps: wagon full of fun, fundamental phrases, season by season (SU)
ink: jet black stazon, summer sun, green galore, only orange
paper: watercolor, green galore, basic black, yoyo yellow, only orange
other: aqua painter, 3/4" circle punch, trio flower punch, 1/16" punch, black brads, crop-a-dile, green gingham ribbon (Michaels), foam tape

I'm so glad you stopped by today. Be blessed.

a tisket, a tasket, a green & yellow basket

Hey, everyone. Today, we made baskets in class. This was a special request, and these are really simple.

The flowers are all die cut or punched. Each class member got to make two, so that meant 12 flowers per person. And then the class made extra for a special project involving eggs dyed with silk ties, which will be sold and the proceeds will be donated to the local food pantry.

Even though I cut most of the flowers with Sizzix Bigz dies in my cuttlebug, allowing me to run 2 or 3 layers of card stock through at a time, my shoulder got pretty sore from turning the crank.

We used a couple of jumbo wheels on the main part of the basket and the only other stamping was the leaves.

What's in it?
stamps: watercolor vine jumbo wheel, petal pizzazz (SU)
ink: glorious green, garden green
paper: various card stock
other: various floral punches, various flower dies (Sizzix), cuttlebug, stapler, 1/2" & 5/8" circle punches, scor-pal
