Hi friends.  Here are some more bits of calendar art. 

This next flower was done using the no line watercolor.  I had a harder time getting the shading right on this one, so I added black details with a Pitt pen. 

I spent part of today (Monday) prepping for my class on Thursday, but still have two more cards to design.  I guess I know what I'll be doing on Tuesday.

calendar art & a new technique

Hi friends.  I have more calendar art for you today.

And on this next one, I tried a new technique called no line watercolor.

You stamp in a light color ink and then watercolor the image starting with light colors and adding darker for shading.  You have to let the colors dry in between.  I really liked this technique.  Since I don't have any artist quality watercolors, I used my Inktense pencils with a waterbrush, taking the color directly from the pencil rather than coloring with the pencil and then adding the water.  You could also color a patch on paper and pick it up with your brush.

Hi friends.  I'm not sure where the rest of February went.  I just realized it's been over two weeks since my last post. 

Yesterday was my daughter's birthday & I forgot to bake a cake, so I was baking very late last night.  We were eating angel food cake around midnight.

Hi friends.  No only is January all filled in, I filled in all the extra spaces on the calendar, so there are actually 35 little bits of art.  It's my intention to do that with every month.  We'll see how that goes.  I guess I should also change the year.

Hi friends.  I hope you're not getting tired of my calendar art.  Rather than overload this post with pictures, I'm going to break it into several smaller posts. 

At this point, I was getting rather frustrated having to put gesso on each date, wait for it to dry, then add my image, color and wait for it to dry.  Along with that frustration was the fact that because the gesso is rough, many of the stamps didn't give a nice neat, clear image to work with.  In light of that, I decided to change the way I'm doing the entire project. 

I am now cutting cardstock into rectangles that fit the date 'squares', working all the art on the cardstock, and then gluing the cardstock to the calendar.  I'm much happier with this system.  So here are the first ones that I did this way.
