whooooosh!

Yup! That's what time has been doing for me... just whooshing by!

With some nice days, I've been outside doing some needed yard work. Raking out my asparagus bed, trimming lilacs, that sort of thing. I'm not much of an outdoorsy type person, so I have to do this stuff before it gets too hot, or the bugs start attacking. Then I'm back inside. I burn easily, so have never been one to stay out too long.

I have hardly stamped at all in the last few weeks. Pretty much just the card samples for my classes. Here are the ones we'll be doing this week.

The rose card has a strip of hand-crocheted lace edging that I made.

The lace is another thing that I've been working on. I have a bunch of pearl cotton (mostly partially used balls) that was either given to me or I picked up in rummage sales years ago. Sometimes I would buy a bag of crochet cotton and they were in the bag. It's not something I normally use for crocheting because the twist on the thread is looser than regular crochet cotton, so it's easier for the hook to get caught between the fibers. I wanted to use it up, so I thought the little bits of lace edgings would be a good way to do that. I found a couple of easy patterns and have just been using up each bit of color.

I've been making them about 6" long, so they are just right for a card. You can wrap the ends around to the back like a piece of ribbon. I've also done some to fit the shorter width of the card. These are just a few of the ones I've made.

I have really been trying to use up things that I have rather than buy more stuff, so I can reduce some of my clutter and be more organized. I know that this is just a tiny bit, but it helps. It's probably a bigger push for me mentally more than anything. Cleaning and clearing out little by little. Not that I don't still buy stuff, but I have certainly cut back.

Thank you for stopping by today. Be blessed.

thankful

O give thanks unto the LORD, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever. Psalm 107:1

When I went to bed around midnight last night, I looked out the window and the grass was all W-H-I-T-E!!! Yikes! I know it's late November, but I am just NOT ready for that yet. Thankfully, it has all melted by this morning. Now it's just raining.

We always get together for Thanksgiving dinner at my oldest sister's house with as many siblings and their families that can make it. She lives just a half hour away for me, but others come from greater distances. It's really a great time and everyone contributes to the meal, sharing in the preparation and making the work lighter. My contribution is normally cheesecake and green bean casserole. I made the cheesecake last night and will do the other this morning, wrap it up to keep it warm and join everyone for the noon meal.

After the big meal is all cleared away and cleaned up, we settle in for some crafting. We're making apple cider this year and after that, I haven't figured out what to take along to work on. I went digging last night, hoping to find some quilting that was small enough to work on. I haven't worked on any quilting in such a long time, and with tapering off my stamping class schedule to just a couple a month, I've been hoping to be able to spend more time getting my hands on my fabric. So as I was digging and searching, I came across a quilt top that I'd forgotten about (one I made when I was teaching quilting - 4 years ago). But that wasn't all --- I found another which is all layered and spray-basted that I had completely forgotten I'd even made! If I didn't need a lot of room to spread out for that one, I'd take it along. Or maybe I should take it and get help tying it. Ha!

Well, enough rambling. I just wanted to come post a Happy Thanksgiving to you all. I am thankful for each one of you. Have a blessed, safe and wonder-filled day.

followers

Happy Monday, everyone. I finally added a 'followers' gadget on my sidebar (all by myself, too!), so feel free to add yourself to my followers.

Well, I was going to post today's project, but I'm having some problems uploading a picture, so I guess I'll have to try again later.

Have a wonderful evening.

SCS Fan Club Fun

If you are a member of the Splitcoast Fan Club, you want to know about this. The Dirty Girls are planning a week of challenges (July 21-27) in honor of the Fan Club anniversary. They did this last year and it was so much fun! If you haven't already joined the fan club, consider joining now and you can be in on the fun.

Check it out --> A Day in the Life of a Dirty Girl

And plan to join the fun.

I don't normally add plugs for other sites, but this one will be worth checking out.

Have a wonderful day!
