triangle fold medallion

Hello, everyone. It seems like a long time since I've been able to do some of the daily challenges on splitcoast. When I looked at the technique challenge today, I decided to make a card that I could use in my class tomorrow. Since the class is a large group, I needed to keep the card fairly simple, so the only thing that will take much time is the medallion. If you want directions on how to make the medallion, just click on the link listed above. The directions are in the first post.

I decided to use some papers from a stack that I've had for a long time. By picking some of the greens, it worked for a Christmas card. I cut my circles using my cuttlebug and nestabilities. The photo corner punch is a double punch with two different options.

supplies
stamps: elegant cheer
ink: glorious green
paper: glorious green, whisper white, riding hood red, dp (stack ?)
other: cuttlebug, nestabilities circles, sponge, photo corner punch (EK success), jewel

The 2nd card I have to show you is a bit similar to the one in my last post, but no designer paper was used. This card is also for my class.

I stamped the caramel with sanded background in creamy caramel ink. The flowers and leaves were stamped on white with black stazon. This is a 2-step stamping set called Fancy Flowers. I used the 2nd step on the leaves with wild wasabi ink, but for the flowers, I simply used a sponge to ink up the flower in taken with teal, by pressing very hard and rubbing the sponge around in circles to get a nice even color. Then I used a sponge dauber for the flower centers in not quite navy. Then, instead of cutting out the flowers, I simply punched them out with my scallop circle punch and sponged the edges with not quite navy. By doubling up some of the pairs of leaves, it gives more fullness to them.

supplies
stamps: fancy flowers, sincere salutations
ink: creamy caramel, jet black stazon, taken with teal, not quite navy, wild wasabi
paper: taken with teal, creamy caramel, whisper white
other: sponge, brayer, sponge dauber, scallop circle punch

Thanks for stopping by today. Be blessed.

Two tees in ipod

Hello everyone. On Thursday evening, over in the member forums on splitcoast, Gina K was having another release party. There are always some challenges and winners are drawn from those who participate, so I like to play along. So far, I've done two of the three. I hope to find time to do the third one as well. The first one was a sketch challenge. As I've often mentioned, I don't use a lot of designer paper. But for this card, I decided to pull out a 6x6 pad of 2-sided paper by Black Market Paper Society that I recently bought through Gina's store. The pad is called Let it Bloom. I pulled out 2 coordinating pieces and added some card stock for a very quick card. The stamps are from Botanical Dreams (Gina K). I stamped the large flower 3 times on white card stock with black stazon. Then I took a sponged and rubbed the ink around in a circle, using quite a bit of pressure, to color the flower. This flower has a lot of narrow petals and I really didn't want to cut around them all, so I grabbed my SU scallop circle punch and punched out 2 of them. The third one I used a new EK Success whale punch that is just a bit smaller than the SU one. I used another stamp in the set behind the flowers. Added some buttons to the flowers and popped up the front one. This card took about 15 minutes to make.

supplies
stamps: botanical dreams (Gina K)
ink: taken with teal, elegant eggplant
paper: taken with teal, creamy caramel, dp (let it bloom, Black Market Paper Society)
other: sponge, scallop circle punches (SU & EK Success), foam tape

For the 2nd card I did, the challenge was to use at least 3 different stamp sets on one card. It's preferred that you use all Gina K stamps. I only have 4 Gina K stamp sets, so I had to get a little creative. I started by stamping the tee shirt from Little Tees on some cream card stock. Then on one I used flowers from Peace & Comfort and on the other I used the same flower from Botanical Dreams that I used on the first card. I'm not sure why the colors don't match -- the blue stamped on the left shirt is my ballet blue ink pad and the right shirt is my ballet blue marker (looks like 2 different colors). Then I cut the tee shirts out. I had to think awhile to come up with a card idea, though. I finally decided to try making a card that resembled an Ipod. Did a Google search for a picture. I decided to use artistic liberties and made the card a normal A2 size. The card base is bashful blue, with the corners rounded and edges sponged with ballet blue. I made a screen with basic black and basic gray card stock and simply let the tees pop out of the screen. The menu circle was made by tracing something round, cutting it out and punching out the center with 3/4" circle punch. Since I'm having some printer issues, I just hand drew the markings on the circle.

supplies
stamps: little tees, botanical dreams, peace & comfort (Gina K)
ink: jet black stazon, ballet blue, bravo burgundy
paper: bashful blue, basic black, basic gray, whisper white, cream
other: sponge, 3/4" circle punch, micron pigma marker

I'm so glad you stopped by today. Be blessed.

Finally some class projects

I've been working like crazy to get some samples made for Saturday's class and finally have something to show you. There will be at least one more project, but I'm still working on it and wanted to get a picture posted for you today, so this is what I already have ready. I wish I had better photography skills and knew how to create a pretty scene, but I guess you'll have to be satisfied with this. Don't forget the signup deadline is Thursday, Nov. 13.

Thanks for stopping by.

Poof!

Wow! Here it is November already and the last couple of months have gone have just gone poof! October 17th was my one year blogaversary. And I missed it! Yes, I've been blogging for a whole year. So I thought that even though I'm a bit late, I'd offer some Melody Mints. But I'm going to make you work (or play) for them. If you've been reading my blog, you know that my favorite color is blue and I love butterflies. So in honor of my blogaversary, I want you to create a new card that incorporates a lot of blue and has at least one butterfly. Upload your card to your blog or an online gallery and post a link in the comments of this post. One entry per person please, and you have until 5:00 p.m. Central Standard Time on Saturday, November 8, 2008 to post your link. That gives you one week to get creative. I will randomly select a winner from all the entries and post the winner sometime on Sunday the 9th.

The card I did for the inspiration challenge on splitcoast today certainly fits the criteria. I used both large stamps from Inspired by Nature, stamped in Pacific Point. The background was made by dragging my ink pads across the card stock. A very simple card.

supplies:
stamps: inspired by nature
ink: pacific point, cool caribbean, bashful blue, mellow moss
paper: cool caribbean, night of navy, whisper white
other: piercing tool, brads, navy grosgrain ribbon, butterfly punch (Martha Stewart)

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderfilled day.
