happy little thoughts

Hi everyone. It's been cold here -- around 30 in the morning and only up to around 50 during the day. Today was also cloudy all day. So anyway, I checked the technique challenge on SCS this morning and saw that it was an easel card. I've been wanting to try one of these, so I decided to play. Seems like it took me forever, but I finally got one finished.

I decided to use a Penny Black flower, blush, for the main image. I colored the stamp with always artichoke, dusty durango and soft suede, then misted with water and stamped it on a piece of watercolor paper. Then I repeated the process, so that I could cut out the 2nd flower. I sponged the edges and popped it up on top of the image.

The cardstock I picked to go with the image is dusty durango, groovy guava and black. I did a lot of sponging along the edges with chocolate chip. Two of the layers were embossed with textile embossing folder in my cuttlebug.

I added some black brads and mounted the two smaller black layers on foam tape for a bit of dimension.

Since this type of card needs something to hold it up in the easel position, rather than use a button or brad on the inside of the card, I chose to add an extra layer of cardstock underneath the sentiment, raising it off the base just enough to catch the front of the card and hold it up.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. Have a wonder-filled week.
