Yay, I stamped!

Hi everyone. Happy Saturday. It's sunny today, although there's a bit of a nip in the air and it's windy. The temperature hasn't made it up to 50 degrees. The man just went out to start mowing and I'll probably need to go out later to do a bit of yard work. But for now, I'll just stay inside and keep warm.

I checked the SCS inspiration challenge last night and the sunflower sample just jumped right out at me. I knew I wouldn't even need to go check the website for other ideas. So this morning, I checked my stamps for a sunflower. I know I have more than one. This isn't the one I was specifically looking for, although I found that one too. But I liked this one better, because I thought the re-inker spread technique would work great with this stamp.

I stamped the flower (Inkadinkadoo) on shimmery white cardstock with chocolate craft ink and embossed it with clear ep. Then I spritzed it with water until the water was puddly. The next step is the fun part. You dip a water brush in dye ink refills and then touch it to the water puddles and let it blend. Each time you will get a different look.

The only hard part is waiting for it all to dry. It can take at least a half hour. While I was waiting, I went ahead with the rest of the card. I punched two pieces of summer sun with my eyelet border punch and then sponged the edge with chocolate chip.

The sentiment is Hero Arts, stamped in chocolate chip.

I wanted to finish the card, but the flower was still wet in places, so I used my heat gun to speed up the process, holding it up about 6" from the image, so that I didn't 'move' the color, just allowed it to dry faster.

The center of the flower is actually quite detailed on the stamp, so I couldn't get much ink color on it. To fix that problem, I went over it with a dark brown copic marker.

Then I cut out the flower, added some silk leaves and popped it up on dimensional tape.

Thanks so much for visiting today. I hope you have a wonder-filled weekend.
