turquoise

Hello, my friends. I hope you're having a pleasant week. It snowed again this morning. I went out around 1:00 to shovel. I think we had about 3 inches.

I wanted to enter cards for this week's sketch and color challenges on StampTV. Since the color challenge was due today, I pulled out some turquoise, chocolate and white cardstock and ink to see what I could come up with. I also checked the ways to use it challenge on SCS and found that it was to use rainbow colors. I ended up making a card for the WT and StampTV sketch challenge first, but had plenty of time to make one for the color challenge as well.

I wasn't planning on making two cards that were turquoise, but after I brayered some cardstock with ink from my kaleidacolor calypso pad, I thought turquoise would be a good background. I stamped freesias (Cornish Heritage Farms) in black stazon over the rainbow colors and then die cut a circle with a nestabilities die. The black layer behind it is die cut with eyelets pendant die. After gluing them together, I inked the piece with versamark and embossed with iridescent ice ep.

To follow the sketch, I pulled out a piece of summer sun and stamped it with a wheat stamp from Signs of Autumn (Gina K), again using the calypso pad. When I pulled out a piece of black to layer behind it, I found it was a bit too short, but I decided to use it anyway and just change the way the layering looked. I used the same type of layering for the sentiment, which is from Stampendous.

My second card is for the StampTV color challenge. I stamped the Hero Arts flowers in chocolate chip ink and then colored the centers with colored pencils and blended them just a little bit with gamsol. I added some white highlights with a white gel pen. Then I die cut the piece with petite scallop circles nestabilities, with a layer of chocolate chip.

The fancy lacy bits are a die cut called Decorative Butterfly Border (Spellbinders). The card base is chocolate, with layers of white and turquoise. Some white dots in the corners and inside part of the lacy pieces complete the card.

Thanks so much for stopping in today. Be blessed.
