Hello, my friends. Did you ever have one of those duh moments that make you feel really dumb? Watching Tim's video last night for Creative Chemistry 101, when he was talking about paint dabbers, he says, "Another thing about the dabbers is you can unscrew the top and use a paintbrush in there." Well, DUH, that never even occurred to me!
And speaking of paints, I painted my pajama top this morning. Not on purpose - I opened some crackle paints and most were very thick or worse. One was so dried out that the brush stayed in the paint when I unscrewed the cover. (I'll be contacting Ranger on that one for sure.) On a couple others, I thought I'd try to thin them out and see if I can salvage them with a bit of water before giving up on them. I was mixing one with a craft stick and some of the paint flicked right out and onto my pj's. It's a good thing I don't care what my pj's look like, because I don't think the paint is going to come out.
So on to my tags. The first technique is dabber resist. We used sticky back canvas as our surface and I really love how this one turned out. I'll definitely be using this technique again.
The second technique is crackle paint resist. I like the tag, but I don't really like working with the crackle paint. I'm too impatient to wait for it to dry.
The third technique is shattered stains. Again, this one used crackle paint and after a couple of hours, I still needed to help it along with my heat gun. And mine certainly doesn't look as nice as Tim's tag.
Thanks for stopping by on my continuing journey.

I really like how they turned out. I can't wait to get home to try it out myself. Pretty, pretty tags Melody!

VERY nice--I LOVE your butterflies, but they are all great!
Oh WOW!!!! These look AWESOME!!! I just finished watching the tutorial and now I'm getting ready to play...just hope mine comes out even close to yours!!! Beautiful job!!
All of your tags are fantastic! What a stunning collection you will have! I am behind!!
Oh, I think you are too hard on yourself. They turned out fabulous! I love your butterflies! I am hoping to play catch-up today.
Very pretty. Love the butterflies.
I have to tell you that I DO NOT like the crackle paints!! All of the jars I have are DRIED up horribly, some only used once. The metallic one, never used and it wouldn't crackle at all. I have cheap 89 cent acrylic paints that have sat in the garage for periods of time that were still usable. Just my two bits! hehe. I'll just do my own crackle the two step way from now on. Less frustrating!!
Three very striking tags!
