Sew glad we're friends

Happy new year, everyone. My watch stopped working last night, so I feel like I have no idea what time it is today, even though most rooms in our house have at least one clock. It's just not the same as checking the watch on my wrist. It might just be the battery, but I'm due for a new watch. This one is pretty scratched up, since I wear it all the time except in bed. I hate shopping for a watch. It's just so hard to find one that I like that's not too expensive.

It has been awhile since I've stamped, but I really wanted to play the inspiration challenge on SCS today. When I looked at the site, I saw many things that would inspire me, but ended up using only a color scheme and then even changed that a bit. I chose these teal flower glass earrings as my inspiration. Using the teal/brown colors, I decided to make a card in the shape of a spool of thread.

I started by taking a quarter sheet of paper and folding it into quarters and then snipping out the side to make the spool shape. I tweaked it a bit and then made a cardboard pattern from a piece of cereal box. Then I transferred the shape to my cardstock and cut it. I inked up my woodgrain backgrounder (Cornish Heritage Farms) with chocolate chip ink and stamped on the spool. Then I sponged the edges for some dimension.

For the thread, I stamped a lined image (I think it's from Stampington & Co.) in tempting turquoise on turquoise cardstock. Then I put it in Forest Branches embossing folder and ran it through my cuttlebug for some texture. Then a lot of sponging along the edges for dimension.

The lace is just from my stash. The sewing machine with the sentiment is one stamp from Puns from the Past (SU), stamped in chocolate chip and die cut with small circles nestabilties die #4 {with #1 being the smallest circle} (Spellbinders). The circle is popped up on dimensional tape.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. Have a wonder-filled day.
