I stamped!

Hey, everyone. I hope you are having a great weekend. I actually sat down and made a card this morning. I've been busy working like a beaver on my quilt - still a long way to go, though, since I'm hand quilting. But I'm pleased with the progress that I'm making. I went to my lace guild meeting today... and took some of the quilt to work on.

I checked on the inspiration challenge on SCS and the samples on the site had a lot of birds. So I picked one called White Bird.

I started with a piece of glossy white cardstock and stamped an image called warbler by Penny Black in versamark ink. Then I dried it with my heat gun and brayered over the cardstock with Ranger tea dye distress ink. This is a technique called ghosting or versamark resist. You then wipe off any excess ink from the image with a tissue. I matted the image piece on vanilla, dusty durango and tempting turquoise on a chocolate chip card base. A bit of turquoise was sponged on the edge of the vanilla layer.

For the strip across the card, I used a piece that had been rejected from another project because the color wasn't right. The vanilla was punched along both edges with my eyelet border punch and then run through the crimper for a fun lacy look. I sponged the edges with turquoise ink. The sentiment from Hero Arts was stamped in vintage photo distress ink on dusty durango. I added buttons from my stash to make this card fit the Gina K February 2010 Release Challenge #1 - Bunch o' Buttons.
