another fun butterfly

Hi, my friends. I'm finding it hard to believe that it's the end of September already. I don't know where the month has gone. It seems to have just flown by.

Today was the 300th sketch challenge on SCS. So, in celebration, there are going to be some prizes given out through a random drawing. So, of course, I had to make at least one card. The sketch just called to me for a bunch of flowers. Since I already had a number of these flowers from Fast & Fabulous (SU) colored and cut out, I decided to use them.

I started by making the faux wood panels using creamy caramel, really rust & close to cocoa on vanilla and adding the board & nail marks with black marker. The panels are all distressed on the edges and layered on black.

For the flowers, I made a grouping of five of the flowers. Then I punched a bunch of leaves with a Martha Stewart punch. I cut off the stems, sponged the edges with always artichoke and added some veins. Then I just tucked the leaves in and around the flowers until I was satisfied.

Some time ago, I was playing around and had die cut a butterfly from some wide shimmery gold ribbon and added some turquoise glitter along the edge. I decided to use it on this card. I die cut another butterfly from yoyo yellow cardstock and then sponged a lot of ruby red on it. Then I tied them together with black crochet cotton, creating a body for the butterfly. I just drew in the antennae. Here is a closeup of the butterfly, so you can see all the shimmery goodness.
