Merry Christmas

Well, I do hope you have one, but not just yet. My card today is a Christmas card. I decided to make a card for this week's sketch challenge on Stamp TV.

I started by stamping the cardinal image (SU - a cardinal Christmas) with tuxedo black memento ink. I colored it with copic markers and used a spellbinders dahlia nestabilities die to cut it out. I added some gable green sponging before I took the image out of the die. I also added some faux stitching with a black marker.

At this point, I tried a number of different colors and papers for the card base and nothing seemed to fit. So I started playing with another spellbinders die (eyelet pendant), thinking I could put something behind the image. As it turned out, I ended up going a completely different direction with that, so I'm going to use that on another project. Sooooo..... then I was sort of back to square one.... After playing around with it for quite awhile longer, I finally found something that worked.

I used river rock for the card base, and stamped another image from the same set randomly in river rock ink to form a backgound.

The sentiment is also from that set. I added some more faux stitching and some faux brads.

The image is raised on dimensional tape.

I do so appreciate you stopping by today. For those of you celebrating Thanksgiving this week, have a blessed day. I hope you get to spend it with someone you love.

Happy Thanksgiving Melody!! I love the cardinal!! I have a soft spot for them as they are our school mascot. And they mean "Christmas", which is my favorite holidy (even if it is waaaay to stressful!)
