exciting news!

Hi my friends. I have some exciting news, which I can finally share with you today. I have been asked to join the Squigglefly design team for the next six months. I made two cards using their images.

The first card, made for the technique challenge on SCS, uses images from Stitched with Love. I colored the pincushion and buttons with colored pencils and gamsol. The buttons are also coated with crystal effects.

The floral background is a piece of fabric, which I sewed to a strip of black cardstock and then adhered to the ballet blue card base. I die cut the image with petite ovals nestabilites (spellbiners). The sentiment was cut out with pinking scissors. The images and sentiment are all mounted with dimensional tape. Some faux stitching was added around the image oval and along the top and bottom of the card.

The second card was made for the clean and simple challenge on SCS. The image on the this card is from Flowers Set. I also colored this image with the gamsol magic technique. Then I die cut it with the same set of ovals. While it was still in the die, I sponged the edges with certainly celery ink.

The 'ruffles' along the bottom are made by edge punching three pieces of certainly celery cardstock and then embossing them in my forest branches embossing folder. I sponged them to enhance the embossing.

The sentiment is a retired SU stamp (small script), which I colored with a black marker, eliminating the long ends on the word. A few pearls were added to pull it all together.

Thanks so much for stopping by today.

Melody, these are so pretty! I love how you colored the pin cushion in rainbow colors. Great job putting the crystal lacquer on the buttons - they look so real!

I love how you created the ruffles at the bottom of your other card. Very cool effect embossing them.

I'm really looking forward to working with you at Squigglefly!

Lovely cards, your flower is beautiful and the pincushion is really cute. I'm going to have to get that one for my seamstress family members (which I am NOT)!
