spring flowers

Hello, my friends.  I've been busy creating.  It seems the mojo is flowing, so I'll just take advantage.

One of the March challenges on the OWSE Yahoo group is to make a an art journal spread with a spring theme.  Earlier in the week, I had been experimenting with a spray starch resist technique that wasn't working very well.  It's fabulous on glossy card stock, but I was using watercolor paper that had been coated with gesso, and I think the extra absorbancy made the technique not work so well.  So anyway, I had some pages from my experiments that were pretty bright, and seemed perfect for spring pages.  You can see some of the stencil activity in the background.

I pulled out some yellow acrylic paint and spread it lightly over the ink spray to make the color on the two pages a bit more uniform.  I had to be careful not to brush too heavily, because the ink spray reacts with the wet paint, and I didn't want that to happen. 

After the paint was dry, I chose some coordinating designer papers and pick a petal stamp set (SU).  I stamped one of the petals with black stazon on all the papers, so that I had enough leaves and flowers, and then cut them all out.  I just cut the stems by hand and glued them to the pages.  I added black ink along the edges of the stems so they fit with the leaves and flowers. 

The letters were printed on my computer, cut apart and sponged with pumpkin pie ink and then glued on.  I decided because the pages were so vibrant in color, they really didn't need anything else and called them done.
