dance in the rain

Hello, my friends.  Can you believe it's May already?  A new month brings new challenges.  So today I made an art journal spread for a challenge at OWSE Yahoo group, which was to use a dance theme.

I started with a couple of pages which had been gessoed and then sprayed with color wash sprays over a stencil.  I think there was also some glazing medium brushed over the color wash.  But I wanted a more subtle background, so I added some more gesso over the pages.  Some of the ink colors blended with the gesso, giving a completely different look.

The dancers are computer generated clip art, which I printed and then cut out.  I die cut the umbrella man, which is a Tim Holtz/Sizzix die, from black card stock.

The quote is also computer generated, with the edges highlighted with black marker.

I used my tear drop circle dies from Spellbinders to die cut ballet blue card stock, so I had a lot of rain drops.  After gluing them down, I added some which gel pen highlights.  I also used white gel pen to add paths for the raindrops.

To finish off the page, I added some faux stitching to give some movement to the dancers.

Thanks so much for stopping   Have a great weekend.
