How about some blue?

Hey, everyone. It was a beautiful day today - temps in the 70's, partly cloudy and a little breeze - my kind of weather.

Today I actually did the sketch challenge on SCS. It's been awhile since I've managed that. I decided that I could use one of the flowers from Fast & Fabulous, a new SU hostess set. I stamped the outline with brilliant blue ink on watercolor paper. Then I stamped the solid part of the flower, also in brilliant blue, but stamped off once first. I wanted the flowers to have more variance in color, so I added some along the outer edges of the petals with a marker and then blended it a bit with a water brush.

Rather than adding a lot of extra layers of cardstock, I sponged the edges on every layer.

Since the image only filled the center of the watercolor paper, I added some eyelets in the corners and was going to tie some ribbon through them, but I really didn't like how it looked. After fussing with different ways to put the ribbon for quite awhile and just not liking any variation, I finally snipped the ribbon and removed it all. Then I took my scissors and cut off the corners with the eyelets and re-sponged those edges. I still wanted to keep the rectangle shape, so I added another layer of cool caribbean with some blue jewels in the corners --- oh, this is so much better!

The card base is cool caribbean, with layers of brilliant blue and a dotted turquoise which I bought at a local stamp expo quite a few years ago.

The sentiment is from Very Versatile (SU), punched with my word window punch. Both the image and sentiment are popped up on dimensional tape.

Thank you for stopping by. I hope you enjoyed your visit.
